Sdorow's Psychology was one of the intro psych texts I edited while I was at Brown & Benchmark.

My first job as an editor was as a developmental editor at Brown & Benchmark publishers in Madison. I worked on college psychology textbooks. There were two developmental editors on the psych list and I shepherded the texts in intro, social, industrial/organizational, and behavioral neuroscience, as well as texts for a “pre-” intro class  usually called something like “Human Behavior.”

Everybody referred to psych texts by the author’s last name, because they all have basically the same title, i.e., “Introduction to Psychology.” The cover to Sdorow (with the “Sdorow” larger than “Psychology”) was at the time kind of revolutionary in intro psych cover design.

I edited a college textbook on flowcharting for computer programmers, but I haven’t edited a textbook since I started newspaper work. At Isthmus I edit feature stories and have edited stand-alone, glossy, once-a-year special sections like the Annual Manual and Dining.

Editing Isthmus in print and on the web.
